Not sure if I agree with the use of gory safety pictures, videos and DVDs but if all else has failed they may be worth a try. Important to pick your audience carefully and warn them before showing. I have seen them used very effectively and they have been used in Road Safety Campaigns to create good awareness of the realities of road accidents. Interesting article here about whether shock safety ads actually work. Here are some links to sites offering gory or graphic training resources:

SAFETY VIDEOS NOW

Looking for a very dramatic way to drive home the importance of a safe workplace?  Look no further than the videos in this series.  Be prepared, they are very graphic, and contain pictures and video from employees who were injured on the job while not following safe work practices.  These are dramatic high impact videos. They also have a selection of funny training videos including “Ladders of Doom”.

TRAINUM

Large selection of titles containing realistic pictures of persons injured in the workplace including very graphic and vivid pictures of injured persons. Designed to have an impact on employees with regard to the importance of safety. A warning should be given to the audience that the film includes graphic pictures of injuries. One of their videos takes participants through the results of dying, including scenes from an autopsy. Their best seller is “High Impact II” which displays photographs of seriously injured persons. Designed to stimulate safety thinking and actions. Includes arms, legs, hands and other topics that are routinely associated with work related injuries.

SAFETYTRAINER.COM

The photo’s you will see on this site are extremely graphic images of industrial injuries.  They contain photos of amputated limbs, chemical burns and other very bloody images. If you are even the least bit disturbed by blood or graphic photos of injured people do not view these photos. They also have a large range of “traditional” safety training videos.

JOURNAL OF ORTHOPAEDIC SURGERY

Doesn’t get much more real than this. Details and graphic photos of a sever finger injury caused by a ring.

SAFETY ADVANTAGE - The Gory Story About Accidents

Another wide selection of graphic safety videos including: “Hand Injury – The Gory Story). A motivating training program using photographs and video to dramatically illustrate the need for hand safety. This program follows Bob from his injury through surgery and recovery. Extremely gruesome photos of people who were severely burned from electrical energy, crushing, failure to lockout and tagout, and more.
