Safety know-how at workshops matched with acres of practical products and services will equip visitors to The Safety Show to make their workplaces safe during Safe Work Australia Week.

The Safety Show and Sydney Materials Handling will bring more than 300 specialist safety suppliers to the Sydney Showground from October 26 to 28. Occupational health and safety solutions from first aid through to fork lifts and hoists through to health programs will be among the thousands on show.

One of the most lethal risks on Australian worksites – working at heights – will be addressed during a free workshop at The Safety Show by exhibitor, Workplace Access & Safety.

Speaking ahead of the workshop, height safety expert Carl Sachs said NSW employers were likely to face the greatest changes under harmonised regulations.

“Safe Work Australia plans to release draft national model height safety laws this year, which are expected to mirror the national code of practice published just last year,” he says.

“NSW employers need to reconsider their approach to height safety but the good news is that the code is clearer and more practical than the NSW regulations and it’s a great guide to compliance in NSW and around Australia.”

“While NSW offers only three levels of control, the national hierarchy specifies five more distinct levels. It’s more prescriptive and easier to follow.”

The Sydney Safety Show and Sydney Materials Handling will run during Safe Work Australia Week from October 26 to 28 at the Sydney Showground.
