Book intro and TOC are below for your info:

Introduction

In nearly 4 decades of involvement in field, corporate, project and consultant OHS roles I have had the opportunity to learn a variety of things. In this publication I have outlined generally 1-2 page thoughts on safety and safety aligned topics, with the aim of providing some brief guidance to the newly developing OHS professional. Where I considered it important I have included major papers on significant topics I believe I cover a fair bit of relevant ground. Whilst there is a smattering of theory in the following, most is based on practical experience. A strong message is that to be effective in OHS you need competency from other areas, as well as your OHS competencies.

Chris Jones April 23, 2013 at 5:18 PM

Hi guys, I’ve just read your books and I feel I have a much clearer view on which direction I need to focus on to become the best safety practioner I can possibly be.
I’ve only recently finished Cert IV and Diploma in OHS and also Cert IV TAE, I really think the actual OHS courses could do with relating a lot of what’s contained in the books.
Thank you for the time you put into helping us understand what it takes to achieve safety in the workplace.

Chris Jones April 22, 2013 at 7:15 PM

Would you be kind enough to email me George’s latest eBook as well please.

Kirk Rains March 28, 2013 at 1:05 PM

You are very much welcome. As you say, it is about people – people doing what it takes to get home every day in one piece. As we say at the Sheriff’s Office, goal number 1 is to go home at the end of the shift or day!!

Riskex March 28, 2013 at 9:00 AM

Wow – thanks for your great feedback Kirk. The fact that you do that means that you really get what safety is all about – PEOPLE! and encouraging them to think and contribute – people like you are a rare breed! George and I get very little feedback, that is OK as it only takes 1 person like you to keep us going!

Kirk Rains March 28, 2013 at 1:04 AM

I, too, want to thank you for the great ebook. It has been pivotal in offering me direction as I continue to expand my knowledge base in the world of safety. I have come to realize that although I started my path into safety as my primary focus, over the 30+ I have always practiced safety, as well as encouraging other to do likewise, while in the military and law enforcement. Now as a Police/Fire/EMT practitioner, I see a huge need, especially within the US, for a more organized efforts towards police health & safety, similar to what the fire service here has done over the last 30+ years. Again, thanks for sharing your experience and perspective; it has been very helpful for me. Keep up the great work. Also, I do enjoy your email newsletters.
