Wildlife Crossings Unsafe for Animals?

wildlife bridgeIts Sunday again so this is only kind of sort of safety related…………..

Just reading about the huge expense unspared (not sure if that is a word?) to allow endangered species of wildlife (well the cute ones anyway) to safety cross busy roads without injury to themselves or motorists. Apparently they also provide minimal disruption to mating, feeding and migratory patterns.

Sounds like a great idea but my only question: “Don’t the predators pretty quickly figure it out and just wait on the other side for their meals to be funnelled straight into their salivating, fang filled mouths”?

On a related topic, just found this in my “WTF” files:

Every year there are cases of stunned animals, such as moose and deer, which have been hit by cars and trucks on the highways. When these animals are hit, not all of them die, but some are just stunned. The drivers, not wanting to waste the food, bring the animals in to their cars and carry on with their journey. These animals wake up and can cause the drivers to crash. There were 11 cases last year of car crashes caused in this way.
